Time passes very fast. It was as if the beginning of the December holidays was yesterday and now it is over. A fresh new year has begun and I am overwhelmed with joy as I will get to meet my friends as well as enjoying the school's facilities again. However, on the other hand, I am also quite depressed as the holidays are already over and I have to gear up and pull up my socks for the examinations that would soon be around the corner. I am feeling rather perturbed about my studies as I am not sure if I can excel in the examinations this year.
Anyway, I had to return to school right after the pleasurable new year celebration. I was not used to waking up so early in the morning hence I was in a lethargic and listless mood. Moreover, I was down with an extremely sore throat, a bad cough and a flu. My illnesses, especially my sore throat, was infuriating. Everytime I wanted to yawn or swallow my saliva, it hurts a lot, like a sharp pointed knife piercing through my throat. Ouch! It was only the start of a year and yet I am already so ill.
On the first day of school, I noticed that there were a lot of secondary one students that are new to this school entering the school. Although most of them are as tall as me or even taller than me, I still have the feeling deep down in my heart that they are somehow smaller than me. Finally, I am not the youngest in this school anymore. It was kind of an achievement to me. Astonishingly, only a few of my subject teachers were changed. Other than that, it was actually just like last year, which is regarded as good news to me. I am quite unhappy about the change of my Chinese teacher as the new teacher speaks a little too soft and cannot really hear properly. What she taught was also very dry and dull. I am not the only one who feels this way. In fact, the entire class feels the same way. I guess we are just not used to listening to her lecture. As for the new history teacher, I did not really like his teaching style as after he teaches us in class he wants us to check through the notes in the school website for revisions. I would prefer him to provide us notes instead. Again, maybe I am just not used to this method.
A week has passed, and the assignments given to us are already starting to pile up, especially big projects that involve researches like the one under the subject 'Design and Technology'. I hope that in the future that I would be able to cope with both the schoolwork and the activities going on in both outside and inside school. I also wish that I would be able to score well for the upcoming examinations as well as the later ones.

Hi Le Yuan
So sorry to hear about your sore throat. Hope you've recovered by now! I don't think you should worry about your studies. You have always been a very consistent performer and with your drive for excellence, I think you might even outperform yourself compared to last year! Please make sure that you don't stress yourself out ya?
Regarding Mr Thiru's requirement of you guys going online to retrieve revision notes - I find it a great idea! It will only be a matter of time before you start appreciating this system. Let me list some benefits -
1. Convenience! You can access your notes anywhere as long as you have access to the web.
2. Never lose your notes!
3. Independence! A pupil is always responsible for his own learning and I think it's good that the spoon-feeding stops.
Anyway, I enjoyed reading your post and I look forward to subsequent ones!
