The boy who cried fire!

A very good day to you, here we meet again. As the usual, I had nothing but about the school to chat again today. Yesterday, my school held a fire drill at the final period of the day and it was a very fun one. It was a fun one not because it was actually that fun or entertaining but because we were able to skip lessons.Yes! Although it was just one pathetic lesson or actually it was less than a lesson, we did not mind at all as long as we get to miss a dull lesson.

At that precise moment when the fire alarm went off and reverberated and echoed in the air, my classmates started screaming their lungs out and ran about in no specified directions in the classroom with craze. Some of the ridicules ones even thought of leaping into the school pond and also to race to the toilets to hide in the toilet bowls while doing their 'business'. After having quite a hard time dealing with the class, our teacher managed to evacuate us out of the classroom with our bags readily packed and led us down to the assembly area-----which is the field. On our way there, some of us took our own sweet time and strolled to the toilets to comb our hair while reflecting ourselves in the mirror before starting to shout at the top of our voices and scuttling helter-skelter and crashing into objects. It did not take us long to reach the field. We chatted among ourselves non-stop even when settling down in the field. Then we started throwing artificial soil materials at each other. Now this was what I would mean by the word ' fun'. It was thrilling as we get to annoy others. Anyway, we had to station there staring in the blank under the brilliant sun for quite a while. The sun was stinging me and I was burning there. If we were to stay there for a longer period, I think I would have been evaporated away into thin air and no one would even notice. When it was over, I tossed my worn out hands up high in the air and heaved a sigh of relief before returning to my class to collect my bag.
By the way, this is just the third or second week and I am already buried by an avalanche of homework and projects. My teachers just kept spamming me with homework every day so much so that it has now become a daily necessity. Please, I also have non-school activities and is also a human. If this goes on, I am going to rot to death horribly! So please spare my life! Okay it is time or at least it is to me. Until next time! Bye!

Soccer Madness!

Yes! Finally, my cough has somewhat recovered after a long time! Today, my class held a soccer competition among ourselves. At the beginning of the match, we were all loaded with enthusiasm and confidence. We charged forward towards the ball and gave it a hard kick whenever there were opportunities, and so did the opponent. The situation was very tight and tense as neither teams were letting the other score. The suspense grew more and more unbearable until after much kicking and passing, the opposing team snatched the first goal and took the lead. Oh no! I moaned in despair and threw my hands up in the air. At that moment, I almost gave up hope and I vented my anger on the ball by summoning all my might to kick it to the other side of the field and astonishingly, my teammate received the ball and shot it straight into the opponent's goal. Goal! My eyes widened and my jaws dropped. I rubbed my eyes and pinched myself. I could not believe that it was true! It was too good to be true. So there was still hope for us. I broke into a smile and gained back my confidence. We continued on the game until it was still a tie, even after a number of goals. Our performance was not that great after quite a long while as we were all dead-beat. Unexpectedly, when it was the last few seconds, the opponent suddenly gained control of the ball and scored the last goal. No! We had lost! Anyway, it was just a game. However, the opposing team did not actually win as they kind of played unfairly as they regarded two goals that only hit the goal post as goals and they continued to play on even when it was an out. Who cares anyway? It was already over.
Apart from this soccer match, we also had a maths project to do. It was under the category of group work. Our objective was to create a board to present our ideas on how to calculate out the diameter of the school crest set up on one side of the building, which was beyond our reach. About the grouping of the members, some of my classmates were upset as they did not get to work with those that they want and argued among themselves. This was then noticed by our teacher and she gave them a hard time before sorting things out. This reminded me of my OPW(Online Project Work) group that I am assigned to as I do not really like to work with the members and I fear that I would not score well for the OPW which holds a lot of my marks. I just hope that I would be able to bear with my group members and work with them well and as well as to score well for it. Okay, I think this should be it. See you next time!

A day in school

Unfortunately, although my throat has somehow magically recovered, but I still cough every now and there. "Cough!Cough!" Anyway, on today's morning, when I reached the school gate, the cold air smelled of dew and grass. I took in a deep breath before adjusting my tie and tucking my hands into my pockets and then I strolled into the into the school with a spring in my steps.I hoped that was a good start for a fresh new day or at least I thought so.
For today's announcements, they are all very dull and I barely even remember any one of them! However, there was one that is still vivid in my mind and it was a speech given by our principal himself, so it was regarded as an important announcement. He was talking about something related to smoking-----that is one or some of my school peers had been smoking outside school. Underage smoking is a serious offence and anyone who does that would face even serious consequences. Moreover, smoking also affects our health terribly or even horribly, and it leads to deadly diseases like lung cancer, heart attack....Oh well, let us skip all the dry stuff and get on with the main issue here. Okay now where was I...oh yes, I was talking about the principal's speech. Now, as he was rattling on like a machine gun, I could see a lot of students either building castles in the air or chatting non-stop among themselves or at least I was. I realised he was talking about the punishments the student will face if he smokes when suddenly, he asked us that if we realise what they are going to do next. A chill ran down my spine. The word, 'caning' immediately shot straight into mind. At that precise moment, it was silent. Dead silent. Our bulging eyes were all glued closely onto him. My heart started to palpitate and shiny droplets of perspiration trickled down my cheeks. Then, he pointed his finger at one of the innocent-looking Secondary one students, before opening his mouth and said, " Boy, can you please adjust your tie properly? Thank you." Then, he just continued on for a little while more before ending his speech and making his way down the stage. Phew! I heaved a sigh of relief! It was a near thing! For a moment, I thought someone had to be caned in the public when the school has just started for only a few weeks.
Nevermind, let us continue with the interesting lessons I had for today. Firstly, I had history lessons. My teacher taught me about the immigrants that came to Singapore, what measures the Chinese protectorate in Singapore did to counter the bad deeds done by the Chinese secret society and....okay, you know what? Actually, the lessons are quite dry apart from the jokes that the teacher used to entertain us. Let us just stop wasting time and talk about the one and only interesting period of the day( which was also not that interesting)-----that is none other than the Physical Education period! Sadly, for today, we had to run four and a half rounds around the school. After we stretched ourselves and got ready for our positions, the teacher blew his whistle and we took to our heels and set off darting towards the finishing line. At the starting, I felt very energetic but soon as the distance that I covered grew more, the more my energy level dropped like a plane that was shot in the air and was descending down. I was panting, gasping and sweating profusely and my throat was starting to get sore. Oh no! Not again! My heart was about to explode and yet I was only halfway through the race. I could not take it anymore! Have my stamina worsened over the holidays? Anyway, I managed to push myself forward to the final lap, even though I walked a little, and when the finishing line was within my sight, I sprinted like I had never sprint before, so much so that I could not feel my legs. When I reached the finishing line, I sighed with weariness. I was huffing and puffing as I staggered up and down the corridors to settle myself down. I also realised that I got only a fifth! I mean last year my best record was a third but now I got a fifth! Maybe the standards of my stamina has really dropped a lot or maybe because I am still down with the cough?"Cough!Cough!"
By the way, I just hope that I will be able to do better in both academics and sports. See you again next time! Farewell!

First week of school

Time passes very fast. It was as if the beginning of the December holidays was yesterday and now it is over. A fresh new year has begun and I am overwhelmed with joy as I will get to meet my friends as well as enjoying the school's facilities again. However, on the other hand, I am also quite depressed as the holidays are already over and I have to gear up and pull up my socks for the examinations that would soon be around the corner. I am feeling rather perturbed about my studies as I am not sure if I can excel in the examinations this year.
Anyway, I had to return to school right after the pleasurable new year celebration. I was not used to waking up so early in the morning hence I was in a lethargic and listless mood. Moreover, I was down with an extremely sore throat, a bad cough and a flu. My illnesses, especially my sore throat, was infuriating. Everytime I wanted to yawn or swallow my saliva, it hurts a lot, like a sharp pointed knife piercing through my throat. Ouch! It was only the start of a year and yet I am already so ill.
On the first day of school, I noticed that there were a lot of secondary one students that are new to this school entering the school. Although most of them are as tall as me or even taller than me, I still have the feeling deep down in my heart that they are somehow smaller than me. Finally, I am not the youngest in this school anymore. It was kind of an achievement to me. Astonishingly, only a few of my subject teachers were changed. Other than that, it was actually just like last year, which is regarded as good news to me. I am quite unhappy about the change of my Chinese teacher as the new teacher speaks a little too soft and cannot really hear properly. What she taught was also very dry and dull. I am not the only one who feels this way. In fact, the entire class feels the same way. I guess we are just not used to listening to her lecture. As for the new history teacher, I did not really like his teaching style as after he teaches us in class he wants us to check through the notes in the school website for revisions. I would prefer him to provide us notes instead. Again, maybe I am just not used to this method.
A week has passed, and the assignments given to us are already starting to pile up, especially big projects that involve researches like the one under the subject 'Design and Technology'. I hope that in the future that I would be able to cope with both the schoolwork and the activities going on in both outside and inside school. I also wish that I would be able to score well for the upcoming examinations as well as the later ones.
